Blast-Resistant Solutions

Double-Leaf Door

Doors for wide openings, equipment passage and high-traffic industrial areas. The double-leaf mechanism distributes the load evenly and resists high explosion pressures while staying easy to operate.

How it works

A double-leaf blast door has two door leaves that close on a common frame and lock together, which spreads the blast load across both leaves and the frame. It is used where one leaf would be too wide or heavy, or where equipment must pass. As with every blast door, the wall and anchors must be designed for the same load.

Typical applications

  • Equipment passage into process buildings
  • Wide openings in protected rooms
  • High-traffic industrial entrances

Standards and guidance commonly referenced for this product type

  • ASTM F2247
  • ASTM F2927
  • EN 13123-1
  • EN 13124-1
  • UFC 3-340-02

Why choose a double-leaf door over a single-leaf door?

Choose a double-leaf door when the opening is too wide for one leaf to be practical, or when equipment has to pass through. Two smaller leaves are easier to handle and operate than one very large leaf. The extra leaf needs careful sealing and locking at the meeting edge.
