Blast & Fire Protection Systems
Spark Detection and Extinguishing System
Detects sparks early in industrial processes and automatically activates the extinguishing mechanism.

How it works
Optical detectors in a duct sense glowing particles carried by the air flow. When a spark is detected, the control unit triggers a water spray further downstream, timed so the spray meets the particle, and can close a valve or divert the flow. The aim is to stop the spark before it reaches a filter, silo or other place where a dust cloud could ignite.
Typical applications
- Dust extraction ducts and pneumatic conveying lines
- Wood, paper, feed and biomass processing
- Ducts ahead of filters, silos and mills

Why detect sparks in the duct?
Machines can throw hot particles into the air stream, and the stream carries them to filters and silos where a dust cloud can ignite. Detecting and extinguishing the spark in the duct is cheaper and safer than dealing with a fire or explosion in the filter. It works best together with explosion venting or suppression as a second line of defence.
