Ballistic & Gas-Tight Protection Systems

Bullet-Resistant Door

Doors made from special steel and composite materials designed to resist ballistic threats, protecting personnel and critical areas against armed attacks.

Bullet-Resistant Door

How it works

A bullet-resistant door is built from steel and composite layers that stop projectiles up to a stated class. The frame, lock, hinges and any vision panel are made to the same class so there is no weak point. Classes are defined by the calibre and type of bullet the door must stop.

Typical applications

  • Entrances to secure rooms and shelters
  • Control rooms and command posts
  • Guard houses and checkpoints

Standards and guidance commonly referenced for this product type

  • EN 1522
  • EN 1523

These are general references. Compliance and test reports for a specific product are provided per project.

How is the ballistic class of a door stated?

Doors are tested to standards such as EN 1522 and EN 1523, which define classes FB1 to FB7 by the firearm and ammunition used. The class applies to the whole door assembly, including frame, lock and any glazing, so the specification should name one class for the complete system.
